X-tase Boy moved in with us in October 1996 while we were moving into our new home. We brought him into our home because the original owner started to breed horses and she did not want to breed cats anymore.

At that time he had just turned 5 years old and our other studs, IC Djamal Gyldenløve and IC Tilia Nova`s Ingjalf, who were 1 year old and 6 months old respectively, did not like this new addition to our cattery/home. We decided that it would be best for X-tase Boy to live in our computer room (he does not spray) in a separate addition in our house since there was trouble with the other studs.

After we have neutered Djamal, X-tase Boy no longer have to live in our computer room.

X-tase Boy is a real easy cat to please. Pat him on the head or behind the ears and he will do anything for you.

Prior to living with us, he had already had two litters in our cattery and we now plan to use him in the future. He is related to IC Tilia Nova`s Ingjalf, and we really love the lines in both pedigrees, so we feel it will be interesting to use him for further breeding.

At the age of 9 years old, we feel that he has done his duty with the ladies:-) After being neutered he is now a beloved uncle to our kittens and both he and they enjoy each other!

Unfortunately X-tase Boy never got to enjoy his retirement. After getting pneumonia twice, he began to sneeze and drool all the time, which forced us to keep him away from the other cats.

Our vet tried everything in her power to get him well. Toke all the test there were to take and also contacted the vet school here in Denmark, just to see if there was something that she had missed, but nothing helped. In the end, when there was no succesfull treatment, and he kept gettign worse and worse, lost a lot of weight rapidly, without the vet being able to find a reasonable explanation for his sickness, we had him put to sleep.

At the post mortem all his internal organs looked nice and he had been in a very good condition for such an "old" gentleman. But in his nose/throat area our vet found a tumour so that`s what has been causing his sneezing all the time. It was located in such a way that it couldn´t have been seen on a scan and it wouldn´t have been possible to remove it either. He also had multiple metastases in his head and brain, so it was only a matter of time before he wouldn´t have been here anymore. It actually surpriced our vet that he had lived this long with this problem.

Now X-tase Boy is lying in the run, next to Rolf, who became his best friend the last couple of months, when X-tase Boy was isolated in our bedroom, away from the other cats. Looking back it is a comfort to know that we did the right thing.
