Kira has been a wonderful and loving German Shepard all of the years she has lived with us. Unfortunately she was diagnosed with a type of allergy that some times can be seen in GSD in Spring 2007. The allegy makes the intestines grow inwards and the dog will have a more and more difficult time getting ride of its stools. The only thing that can be done is to have an operation where the stools are put in a bag on the side of the dog, but that's not really an option in dogs, only in humans. We spoke with our vet and decided to give her as comfortable life for the remaining time she had and we where very lucky in the sense that we could keep her free from pains for almost 1½ years after the original diagnosis had been found. But the last 2 weeks of her life it became more and more clear to us that she was in pain and not as comfortable and happy as she normally was. And nothing we did would remove the pains she had:-( We decided that it was time to let her go and on September 12. the vet came home to our house, because we wanted her last time with us to be in her normal sorroundings.
It hasn't really sunken in with Carli that Kira is no longer her
and she is missed greatly every day. It was the right decision we made
for Kira sake but that doesn't make the pain we feel any less. Kira, I
will see you again some time, of that I have no doubt about!
