Originally we wanted to keep Kili at home, because we thought that the labour had been so hard on Zazu, that we felt it would be best not to breed her again. But after a long talk about the whole birth with the very knowledgable Dr. Susan Little, one of the leading specialist within feline vetting, at a lecture she gave at a seminar in Denmark, where I (Carli) also participated at, we desided to let Zazu breed one more time next year and keep a kitten from that breeding instead.

Kili has moved to Jutland and will be a part of the breeding program at Morgunstrálans.

A short tiem after Kili was tested, she was euthanized. She had had a lot of pain in her mouth for many months and had, according to her owner, lost a lot of weight. She was examined by a vet under anastecia and it unfortunately turned out that she had a tumor. A biopsy was performed and the result was that it was a malignant tumor.

Good bye Kili, at least you don't have any pains anymore.....

We also thought about keeping Keluang and let him be part of our breeding program, so when Pia from Allans work saw him at a show we toke him to, and immidiately feel in love with him, we chose to let him move to her house. And the plan IS to let his mother have one more litter next year and keep a kitten from that litter. Besides Pia and her 2 daugthers, Keluang also share the house with Findus, a blue domestic cat, and Brigit Gyldenløve.

Kedrovaja has been sold as a breeding/show cat to Annette and Jens-Peter.

On August 21st. 2006 we got a phonecall all breeders fear. The night before the 21st, the found that Kedrovaja had a high temperature and the next day, she was driven to the vet. He said, based on a x-ray, that she had Feline Infectious Peritonitis, better known as FIP. Because the vet thought that she had FIP, she was put to sleep. I hope that the post mortum will give us a (better) answer as to what was wrong with Kedrovaja, since an x-ray is NOT nearly enough to diagnose the disease FIP. We had alrady been concerned for some time, ever since Kedrovajas owners had lost another cat to FIP, 2 months prior to Kedrovaja becoming sick, because we feared that Kedrovaja perhaps would be infected with the same corona virus, who initially started the FIP. Unfortunately Kedrovaja may have gotten the corona virus from the other cat, but we won't know for sure until we have the papers from the post mortum.

When the litter was born, 2 of the kittens were not breeding when they came out. It toke a lot of work to get the red blotched tabby male starting breathing, and although he seemed fine, I suspect that he must have gotten some fluid into his lungs. More fluid than I were able to get out, and more than the usual ½ hour on a heated pad could get out as well. He was given suppliments and care but passed away:-( Kedrovaja was born last and she to came out with a breached sack and wasn't breathing either. She's looking very good and show no signs of having had any effects of her rough birth.
