Hunters breeder, Birgitte, contacted me last summer, because she wanted to hear my opinion about Hunters qualities, based on some pictures she send to me. I thought that he looked very nice, except for his ears, that could be bigger and that's what I told her. Birgitte would really like to sell Hunter as a breeding/show cat, but we just didn't have the money to buy him at that point. Birgitte was so kind to offer him to us, with the agreement that she would get a female kitten from us at some point. Hunter moved in with us in November 2004.
Since that time Birgitte has unfortunately stoped breeding NFC's. We have of course kept Hunter as part of our family. Because she has stoped breeding NFC's , Birgitte will of couirse not be getting a kitten from us in exchange for Hunter, so basically we have gotten him free of charge and we would like to say THANK YOU for this gesture by Birgitte!
Hunter is a very solid forest cat, with a long, straight profile, ears that could be bigger, but are placed correctly in the triangulat. His chin is almost perfect and his body is long and muscular. He's only 1 year old so he still have lots of time to grow in, but he's already a very promising, nice looking male.
Hunter was tested for HCM, PKD, PL and had his HD-pictues taken in April 2006 and we are so happy with the fact that he's tested free. Hunter had already been scaned for HCM once, in November 2004 when he was just 5 months old. This was because his breeder was going to have some cats scaned by Jørgen Koch at KVL(The Royal Danish Vet Academy), so she toke him with her. His result was very good, but from a breeding point of view you cannot use a result from a cat at that age, so that's why it's wise to have it done at the age of minimum 1 year.

As part of the HCM project at KVL, some of our cats was asked to come and give bloodsamples and also be scaned for HCM. Hunter was one of the cats we entered the project. When he'll be scaned again is not sure, because we don't know yet if he'll be followed through the project at KVL or if he'll be scaned under the "normal" procedures we follow. More info will be added as we get it.

Hunter has moved in with Betina & her family along with all
their other wonderful animals:-) over the years Hunter has had a great
temperament but some times he has had smaller alterations with some of
the other studs we have. When that happens the studs that causes it is
given what we call a time-out, which is where one or several studs are
placed in a run on their one for a period of 1 day. For a long time the
only stud that has been in a run due to a time out is Hunter and since
we didn't want to use him in our breeding program anymore we chose to
have
him neutered, hoping that he would then stop teasing the other boys. It
went well in teh beginning but apparently Hunter still thinks of him
self
as a stud and since he's a neuter he often lose the fights he starts
with
the whole studs. We don't think that it's fair to him to let him go
through
that all the time and when one of Allan colleagues said that she would
give Hunter a life in the country side, we felt that this would be the
right place for him to be. We hope that Betina and her family will love
Hunter as much as we have. Letting Hunter go to a new home is of course
only due to the fact that we have discussed this with his former
breeder
and she has agreed to this arrangment.
